By the jury of YAMA (Young Audiences Music Award) 2015, we won the class “Best Large Ensemble”.
I’ m talking about KRYP (Bugs) my choreographic piece for big band. We proudly participated in the ceremony in Zagreb september 14.
A documentary about my work with the piece “Härnösand”. A part of my assignment as a Composer in Residence in Västernorrland.
There will be work for me in Tornedalen this winter. Summer 2016 you are able to see and hear “Malmens väg”. A piece for singers, actors, dancers, choir and orchestra. Outdoor during the dryland period
is an excellent guitar-duo that ordered a tiny little opera from me. If you are passing Gunnebo castle this summer you are able to watch it. First performance may 29 2015
Two singers, two guitars and one soprano sax. The name is: “Den där Hallen…”
“Härnösand”. Another musical portrait of a county
This piece consists of several parts:
Instrumental music with strings, harp-guitar and “nyckelharpa” (A swedish folk-instrument). Everybody play all the time but in simple terms you could say the musicians from NKO are carrying the lyrical parts while the trio “Ahlberg, Ek & Roswall is “driving” the folk-music-parts
The lyrics consist of words collected from locals in Härnösand (Read about it in earlier posts) that I’ve made a composition of
Recorded voices. Spoken and sung. Also by people living in Härnösand. Most in swedish, but some in arabic, russian and bulgarian
Dancers from Norrdans that with moves freely associate with the music
Locals participating in the video making movements of sign-language, expressing some of the words. They say: Freedom, do we have freedom? Connection, do we have connection? To tell is to give, to listen is to receive. Everybody laugh, everybody morn, everybody long
.. to cut all the voices from Härnösand and mix it into the composition. Sound engineer Henrik Heinrich has been very patient.
The words get different perspectives. Some are close-ups, some are like big views. A thought that extends to the next 15 minutes, becomes in one way. A thought extending a decade becomes in another. In my work with Härnösand I’ve tried to capture some of that.
Anyone interested in joining the music-video “Härnösand” are most welcome to centersquare july 16 at 12 am. We should be finished by 14.
My choreographic work for big band (jazz) named KRYP, has been nominated to YAMA. Young Audiences Music Award. So september 14 I go to Zagreb to participate in the ceremony. Look forward to meet colleagues from all over Europe!
